Reviewing the Pan Pacific Pork Expo

Last week was my first time attending the Pan Pacific Pork Expo and going in I wasn’t sure what to expect. There was a part of me that thought I might have time to watch the presentations, visit other product booths and generally have more time to explore.

Instead, it was 12 hours of automed every day and while I’m still exhausted from the experience, I’m also exhilarated by it. We met so many great pork industry people over the two days and the genuine enthusiasm and interest in automed really caught me off guard.

Australian Pork Industry Meets automed

Three distinct groups of people approached us. We had those who were discovering and learning about automed for the first time. There were people fully aware of automed, who have been following what we’re doing and now wanted to see the product up close. And finally, there was the group that I found most personally rewarding. These were people who had heard about us but were skeptical about what automed was claiming to do.

Some of the reactions were priceless. There was even one producer, who I had corresponded with months earlier, who came up to me and actually apologized for writing me off. He had more or less thought we were still in a concept stage.

I certainly don’t blame him. From the outside, it must look like automed came out of nowhere. But we’ve been working on automed for half a decade now. As soon as the product was ready and the marketing came online, we started ramping it up at an incredible pace. It’s a lot of work, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Next Stop – World Pork Expo

The next stop for automed is the World Pork Expo in Iowa. We can only hope that we have even half as rewarding an experience as what greeted us at the Pan Pacific Pork Expo.

I just want to thank everyone that took the time to come over and chat with us. We had important talks with some the biggest players in the Australian pork industry, but it was just as rewarding to connect with the local pork farmer, who are just interested in systems that can make his job easier.

If I missed you at the expo and you wanted to chat or ask a question, please feel free to drop me a line.
