Introducing automed

Today is a proud day for automed.

We have come a long way these last few years but now we are ready to talk. Talk about an integrated platform that will solve many challenges that the livestock industry is facing. If you have been following our progress, you will know that we have been developing two products to change the face of medication delivery forever.

Two Becomes One

The first of the two products developed was an easy-to-use medication applicator. Robust and ergonomic, the applicator automatically delivers accurate doses to livestock. Even if the animal moves and the dose doesn’t finish, the applicator will inform the processor. With features like this, our applicator gun delivers accurate doses every time.

The second product was a farm and livestock management tool that allows producers to record and access important farm data such as Life Data, a full medical history and the location of every farm the animal has contact with. For ease of access and security, the captured data is automatically synced and stored to a secure cloud-based system. This data can then be viewed from anywhere.

In developing these two products side-by-side, both made to address similar problems; we had what we now see as a blatantly obvious “light-bulb” moment. The applicator and the livestock management tool can work hand-in-hand as a single all-in-one solution: automed. We have undertaken a restructuring of the company, alongside a rebranding, to reflect this change.

Inside automed

The medication delivery device is the automed Applicator. It automatically records and sends medication data to the automed OS, which consists of the app and the web portal. Together they will save time and money for producers by automating much of the process and reducing occurrences of costly overdosing and underdosing. Producers will now also have a more valuable product, thanks to traceability and accuracy of dosing. The system is patented across multiple countries.

automed won’t just help producers; it is designed to help the industry as a whole. For instance, regulatory bodies will benefit from the transparent audit trails and the elimination of cross-contamination, consumers will be able to more readily trust what is on their plate and everyone will profit from less reputational damage to products.

Looking to the Future

We have been delighted with the results and feedback from field tests and automed is on track for an early 2016 release into the Australian market. We are working towards a global roll out beginning in mid-to-late 2016, with field testing in the United States and Europe soon after.

It has been a lifelong ambition of mine to produce a product that can dramatically and positively impact the global livestock market. With automed I believe we have a product with the potential to do exactly that.

It’s an exciting time, and I hope that you will not only follow our progress closely but will feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or queries.
