Australian innovator set to stampede into new market
Australian agri-tech company automed has broken into the Canadian livestock market by securing a partnership with the major agricultural cooperative UFA Co-operative Limited.
Through UFA Co-operative Ltd, Canadian producers now have access to automed’s revolutionary livestock medication system which not only delivers on accurate dosing and increased medication efficacy, but also validates treatments and records all treatment data.
The partnership has been established after a period in which Canada’s federal government has moved to tighten the rules regulating the medication of livestock. These regulations require producers to follow stricter guidelines to ensure the quality of their products as well as working with pharmaceutical companies, veterinarians, territorial health authorities and industry stakeholders to exercise prudence in delivering livestock medication.
UFA will distribute automed and has coverage across the entire agricultural sector in the Canadian livestock hub of Alberta, along with the greater Western Canada.
“A company that has been in operation for over 100 years, UFA has continuously adapted and been at the forefront of new and innovative technology. They have established themselves as a reliable service provider with strong community ties, providing services from farm and ranch supplies to fuel deliveries. We are very pleased to have them join the automed team and look forward to making further strides together” automed co-founder and chief executive David Edwards said.
The UFA partnership follows a mutual supplier agreement struck with Neogen Corporation, which will see the automed system sold throughout the United States.
The automed automatic livestock medication system has been on the market since early 2016 but was first conceived a decade ago. The system provides a traceable, tamper-proof way of auditing drugs given to all animals from birth, signaling the end of under and overdosing.
The system, already cultivating markets in Europe and parts of Asia, calculates the optimal medication for each animal, administers the dose and automatically records the treatment data. The system is one of the fastest, most accurate delivery devices on the market. In addition to medication delivery and recording, automed also has an inventory management feature.
Mr. Edwards said 2017 was being marked by a series of important partnerships which would make automed a truly global product.
“2016 was our first full calendar year marketing the automed system and already we’re consistently breaking into major primary producing countries,” he said.
“The best thing about our product is that it’s easy to use and it clearly saves producers time and money.
“It doesn’t matter what country we’re in – South Korea, Canada, the United States or at home in Australia – the story is always the same. We make life easier for producers.
“UFA will be a strong partner for us. They are committed to providing value to their members and helping their businesses and communities prosper”.
